HP Fades

I was shocked when I learnt the news that HP decides to discontinue webOS and TouchPad.

Well, I think the decision itself is right. The problem is they really shouldn’t touch the tablet market in the first place. And they really shouldn’t acquire palm. I think buying heroku or even salesforce would be a much better choice during that time.

HP’s DNA is not suitable for competing in the consumer market. As its company’s logo suggests, it’s much closer to IBM and far away from Apple or Google. I would take the TouchPad/WebOS is HP’s last endeavor to retain its almost lost innovation characteristics in the old days. And now HP should realize the reality and put the focus on the enterprise market.HP is still a giant and has enough cash. What the company lacks is the execution. I think a good strategy is to acquire some smaller companies and let them operate as subsidiaries.
